When I started planning my April 2017 trip to California I knew Point Reyes would be on the itinerary. Situated on a peninsula along the coast, Point Reyes National Seashore contains more than 1500 species of plants and animals. And it is the best location in the country to see bobcats.
I booked a full day safari with Daniel Dietrich of Point Reyes Safaris and planned my visit around that date. Daniel is a professional wildlife photographer, certified naturalist and member of the North American Nature Photography Association (NANPA) ethics committee. He has been leading safaris in the area for several years and knows exactly where to find wildlife and how to observe and photograph his subjects with respect.
Daniel tailors his safaris based on the unique interests of each individual. If you want to watch whales or see the elephant seals, you can spend the day doing just that. My primary goal was to see bobcats…well, bobcats and everything else we could squeeze in during my brief visit. And that is exactly what I saw. This three minute video is a recap showing many of the mammals and birds that I photographed during my short stay. I can’t wait to get back out there when I can spend more time exploring!
